Las Granadillas El Salvador Water Project

The Salinas Steinbeck Rotary Club has joined with the Rotary Club of San Salvador Noroeste in a Rotary Foundation global grant project that will provide clean water to 5,000 native people in the rural El Salvadorian community of Las Granadillas. Their current water system is insufficient to meet their needs so water must be hauled into the community. This $93,600 project will drill a deep well, install a pump to connect to an existing storage tank, and expand the distribution system to serve all Las Granadillas homes. After the construction of the system, community members will be trained in hygiene and sanitation by the local health department. The project is conducted in coordination with the local water community, the ADESCO (community development association), the Canton of Las Granadillas and the Municipalidad de Santa Tecla. The project is currently in construction!
